A training workshop on countering violent extremism and community peace in the holy city of Karbala

“Combating Violent Extremism and Building Community Peace”
Under the generous patronage of His Excellency Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani,
and based on the National Youth Development Initiative, and in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Youth and the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations,
Al-Tayba Relief and Development Organization implemented a two-day training workshop on May 7 and 8, 2025, for young men and women in Karbala Governorate, entitled:
“Combating Violent Extremism and Building Community Peace.” The workshop was held in cooperation with Mr. Adnan Majeed Aziz, Director of the Directorate of Labor and Vocational Training in the holy city of Karbala.
This workshop aims to enhance youth awareness of the dangers of violent extremism and build their capacities in the areas of dialogue, tolerance, and community cohesion. It also aims to develop their tools for resolving conflicts peacefully and actively participating in spreading a culture of peace within their communities.
Key topics covered in the workshop:
- Definition of violent extremism, its causes, and societal impacts.
- Methods of preventing involvement in groups Extremism.
- Effective communication and dialogue skills.
- Building community initiatives that promote peace.
- The role of youth in spreading awareness and a culture of coexistence.
Al-Tayyiba Relief and Development Organization emphasizes the importance of ongoing work in empowering youth and involving them in community peacebuilding efforts, given the significant impact this has on achieving stability and sustainable development.
