Meetings with legal and human rights figures

As part of its ongoing efforts to support women’s issues and raise public awareness of their rights, Al-Tayyiba Relief and Development Organization conducted a series of interviews with several prominent figures involved in legal affairs and women’s rights in Iraq. The aim was to shed light on the realities faced by Iraqi women and the challenges they encounter in society.
The interviews included legal experts Inas Abdul-Muhsin, Head of the Women, Family, and Child Department in Baghdad Governorate, and Ruqaya Mahmoud Abbas from the Human Rights Commission/Baghdad Office. Discussions focused on key issues related to women’s rights and the role of governmental and human rights institutions in supporting and empowering them.
The conversations addressed the legal and social realities of Iraqi women, as well as societal attitudes towards women’s rights and the challenges they continue to face. These challenges include societal discrimination, domestic violence, and a lack of legal awareness among some groups, in addition to the need to strengthen women’s roles in various fields.
The participants emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between governmental institutions and civil society organizations to promote a culture of respect for women’s rights and to work towards creating a safe and supportive environment that ensures their active participation in society.
For its part, the Tayba Relief and Development Organization explained that these meetings are part of its activities aimed at promoting community dialogue on women’s issues and supporting initiatives that contribute to raising awareness of their rights, in line with the principles of justice, equality, and human rights.
