Al-Teeba Organization’s Participation in the Sulaymaniyah Environment Conference

A historic step towards a more sustainable environmental future in Iraq
In the presence of H.E. Ms. Srwa Abdulwahid, Minister of the Environment of Iraq; Dr. Haval Abubakir, Governor of Sulaymaniyah; and representatives from relevant government institutions, civil society organizations, and academic institutions across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, in coordination with the Federal Ministry of Environment, the Kurdistan Region Environmental Protection and Improvement Board, the Sulaymaniyah Environment Directorate, and UNICEF organ.
The legislative workshop was organized by Mrs. khanem, president of asoda and head of the women and sustainable environmental security network, with the participation of the network coordinator and head of Al Teeba Tord organization, engineer Teeba Al-Qaisi, and a number of network members.
The workshop aimed to strengthen environmental laws and regulations to safeguard water resources and prevent the pollution of rivers and the wider environment throughout Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
At the conclusion of the event, alongside the Minister of Environment, the Governor of Sulaymaniyah, the UNICEF Representative in Iraq, and the Sulaymaniyah Environment Directorate, we jointly launched the “Sulaymaniyah for Environment Initiative.” The initiative calls for urgent, practical measures for environmental protection, amendments to existing environmental legislation, and the drafting of new laws to safeguard the environment and water resources across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region
